The Neurotoxicity of MPP+ and neuroprotective effect of LSA in CATH.a cells detected by LIVE/DEAD cell viability assay. CATH.a cells were either untreated (control) or pretreated with vehicle (MPP/veh), 50 μM LSA (MPP/50) or 100 μM LSA (MPP/100) for 30 min before the stimulation of 600 μM MPP+ for 24 hours. The LIVE/DEAD cell viability assay was employed to detect the cell viability. The representative images of the phase contrast (Phase), calcein (green) and EthD-1 (red) are shown in panel (a). Panel (b) and (c) are the fluorescence (arbitrary unit, AU) of calcein and EthD-1, respectively. Results are means ± S.D. from three independent experiments. Significant differences between the cells treated with vehicle and MPP+ were indicated by ***, P < 0.001. Significant differences between the cells treated with MPP+ combined with vehicle (veh) and LSA were indicated by ###, P < 0.001
