Differentiation of pathogenic IL-6+ Th17 cell in adipose tissue. MAP4K4 deficiency in T cells results in IL-6 overproduction. These IL-6-producing T cells infiltrate into adipose tissue. In adipose tissue microenvironment, IL-6 secreted from IL-6-producing T cells enhances leptin secretion from adipocytes. Leptin cooperates with IL-6 to promote Th17 differentiation, leading to development of pathogenic IL-6+ Th17 cells [34]
