Platelet-like proteoliposomes enhance the targeting specificity for infarcted heart through biomimicking platelet interactions with circulating monocytes. (1) Platelets adhere to the surface of recruited monocytes during the development of MI. (2) Accordingly, platelet-monocyte aggregates will undergo extravasation.
