Atomic Force Microscopy images of the surface topography of P. aeruginosa cells adsorbed onto glass. Ps4 cells were incubated in MH medium without (a) or with (b-e) antimicrobial agent at twice the MIC for 1 h and visualized either immediately after removal of the agent (b; PMB treated control; c, P4–9 treated cell) or after 1 h (d) or 2 h (e) of growth at 37 °C in fresh medium free from antimicrobial agent. Cells selected for the analysis had features representative of those observed in 3 different low magnification fields (n = 10 to 20 cells)
