  1. Ten to twelve 2-day old females with the genotypes indicated in the left column were crossed with y1w1sn3; marsPmales. Each cross was set up in at least five vials and transferred into new vials after three days. After the second transfer, the parents were discarded. The flies were incubated at 24°C or 28.5°C ± 0.5°C. The latter is indicated by an asterisk. Male progenies were counted for five consecutive days. The percentage of y- w- sn- offspring over total males is shown in parenthesis. Number sign, #, represents a significant difference between marsPand tlk27-9 or Δ14/+;marsPat 28.5°C as determined by the Student's t-test (p < 0.01).
