Wild type and Sdc1 -/- mice exhibit similar levels of fibrosis and neovascularization during subacute peritoneal dialysis (PD). The (a) thickness and (b) vascular density of the peritoneal layer were quantified from the hematoxylin and eosin-stained sections. Data recorded as mean ± SEM and analyzed with ANOVA with Bonferroni correction, n = 14 mice in the wild type groups and n = 8 mice in the Sdc1 -/- groups, *p < 0.01 and ***p < 0.0001 compared with controls that were not treated with peritoneal dialysis (non-PD). There were no differences in the levels of fibrosis and vascularization in the peritoneal layer of wild type and Sdc1 -/- mice
