Knockdown of SMCT by siRNAs alters [3H]VPA uptake in the ALS cell lines model. SMCT1 and SMCT2 siRNAs significantly affects [3H]VPA uptake both in the WT (a) and MT (b) ALS cell line. siRNAs were transfected at a concentration of 200 nM with Lipofectamine 2000 for 24 h. [3H]VPA uptake was analyzed for 10 s under physiological pH. Each value represents the mean ± SEM (n = 4). ***p < 0.001, **p < 0.01 and *p < 0.05 denote significant difference from the respective controls
