DTAK1 activates DJNK pathway. (A) dpp- LacZ showed a typical expression pattern in dorsal and lateral spots along the anterior-posterior axis in control 24B-gal4 driver embryos. (B) Mesodermal bsk induced the expression of dpp-LacZ. (C) dpp-LacZ reporter was ectopically expressed in 24B>dTAK1 embryos. (D) pMad was not ectopically expressed in control 24B-gal4 driver. (E) Targeted overexpression of dTAK1 in mesoderm induced ectopic pMad. (F, G) Excessive apoptosis was induced by the expression of bsk using Act5C- or 24B-gal4 drivers. (H) Expression of bskDN inhibited ectopic dpp-induced apoptosis. (I) Mesodermal expression of bskDN inhibited dTAK1-induced cell death.
